The stretch of Outer Ring Road for a length of 21.3 Km between Shamirpet and Ghatkesar is scheduled to be inaugurated by Minister for IT, MA&UD K. Taraka Rama Rao on Friday at 12 noon at Ghatkesar. This stretch of ORR has been funded by JICA.
Representatives of Japan Embassy and JICA will participate in the inaugural function. The cost of construction of this stretch of road is Rs 623 crore. The contractors are: Messrs Gayatri Projects Ltd, for the stretch between Shamirpet and Keesara, Messrs NCC Ltd. The Supervision Consultants are Messrs Nippon Koei and MessrsAarvee Associates (JV).
With this, the connectivity of ORR will be complete for a length of 156.9 Km out of 158.0 Km. Work in the balance length of 1.1 Km at Medchal is in progress. By opening the stretch of ORR from Shamirpet to Ghatkesar, the traffic from Karimnagar going towards Warangal and Vijayawada can use the ORR thereby reducing the congestion of city in Secunderabad, Uppal, L.B. Nagar areas. Interchanges at Shamirpet, Keesara and Ghatkesar are now available for use for commuters. (NSS)
