Probably stepping into his father and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s shoes to lend a helping hand to the poor and deprived, IT Minister KT Rama Rao today offered Rs 1 lakh to Nagaiah who acted in Vedam film and begging at Film Nagar. Moved at the penury of Nagaiah, who is begging in Film Nagar to make both ends meet, KTR invited him to his residence and offered Rs 1 lakh cheque.
Besides, offering to provide Rs 1500 old age pension the Minister promised to sanction a house to to Vedam Nagaiah in future irrespective of his region. Telangana Government will extend a helping hand to the old artists who should not remain in penury the IT Minister asserted.
It is pertinent note here that Nagaiah got accolades by playing “Siricilla Ramulu” (Siricilla being KTR’s constituency in Karimnagar district character in the noted Telugu film “Vedam” directed by Krish in which noted Heroes Allu Arjun and Manchu Manoj played the lead while star Heroine Anuskha played a prostitute role.
Though, Nagaih got a couple of opportunities in films after Vedam, he could not get a big chance leading to his poverty followed by financial problems. With no other go the old film artiste is literally begging in the Film Nagar area. And fortunately the got a call from KTR which indeed a blessing in guise. (NSS)
