Hyderabad: Rain usually brings colds, coughs and other viral fevers. The city is already in the grip of viral fevers that are vector- borne. But neither district administration nor GHMC seem really concerned about the situation. Uncleared garbage has increased the risk of diseases.
It was hoped that the Swachh Bharat campaign will make the city clean but the dream of city denizens has shattered. Disappointment prevailed among the citizens as they feel that the state government has failed to protect the health of the citizens.
Children of over 70 percent houses are suffering from vector borne diseases, while hospitals are getting a steady flow of patients. Despite the situation, neither the elected public representatives are paying heed towards the issue nor the government is creating public awareness by organising medical camps. Anger prevailed among public against public representatives as the later are not paying attention towards the problems. On the other side it is being trumpeted that the city is being converted into smart city and world class city.
