Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said that Hyderabad could not achieve the desired targets of development without the active involvement of local residents.
Addressing a programme on ‘Swachh Hyderabad’ organised by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation at Hari Kala Bhavan in Secunderabad on Wednesday, KTR said that the State Government has been striving hard to keep the city Clean and Green. He said the local residents should actively get involved and support the GHMC’s initiatives. He said nearly 2,000 vehicles were being deployed to lift about 4,000 Metric Tonnes of garbage. Further, all residents have been supplied two bins for collection of garbage. He said that the State Government has released Rs. 200 crore for Swachh Hyderabad programme.
KTR said that the State Government plans to expand Rs. 5 per meal scheme to all the areas in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. He said a joint venture, comprising of GHMC and hotel owners, would be launched to implement the proposal.
The meeting was also attended by Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, GHMC Commissioner & Special Officer Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, senior officials and owners of hotels, functions hall and restaurants. (INN)
