The TRS MLA from Sircilla Mr T Taraka Rama Rao on Tuesday urged the Government to extend the loan waiver of weavers to the power looms also.
Raising the demand during the zero hour in the Legislative Assembly, Taraka Rama Rao reminded that Sircilla has hit nthe headlines for suicides and hunger deaths of weavers during 2007-08. Referring to the decision of the government to waive the weavers’ loans, he pointed out that the state government has been earmarking Rs.330 crores in the three consecutive budgets. The Centre was also announcing lakhs of crores to save the distressed weavers in the country. But, the State Government has not released the amount fully for waiver of weavers’ loans. The loans waiver facility should also be extended to the individual loans of power loom owners, who were struck in financial crisis, It would cause just Rs 15 to Rs 20 crore financial burden to the government, he added.
EX-GRATIA TO TAPPERS
The Congress member Vanga Geetha demanded Rs.two lakh ex-gratia to the families of the diseased toddy trappers, irrespective of the reason for their death. She reminded that the present the government was extending ex-grtaia to the families of toddy trappers, who have fallen down from the palm trees and lost their lives.
PRODDUTUR DRINKING WATER
The TDP member Linga Reddy said that the people of Proddutur were facing scarcity of drinking water in this summer season. Until water from Kundukuru reservoir was released, water should be supplied to the town from RTPP. He also demanded for speeding up and early completion of drainage works in the town.(NSS)
