Union Minister for Labour & Employment Bandaru Dattatreya and Telangana IT Minister K. Taraka Ramarao on Tuesday launched free WIFI services at Secunderabad Railway Station. A new ticket booking counter was also opened on the occasion.
Talking to mediapersons along with Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya and SCR General Manager Srivatshava after launching the Wi-Fi services, KTR said entire Hyderabad will get wi-fi services by December end. He said the services will prove handy for netizens using internet. For first time in SCR zone with 13 lakh staff, the Wi-Fi services provide free internet services for at least half an hour he said. Efforts are being made to connect each and every locality in the twin cities with Wi-Fi, he said, adding that there is a paradigm shift to mobile governance from e governance across the nation. Out of 75 crores of mobile phone users in the country, 32 lakh people with smart phones are using Internet services. And Hyderabad adorning the Wi-Fi facility will help them the internet services free for some time, KTR stated.
Dattatreya expressed pleasure at the introduction of wifir facility in the railway station premises. This new technology, he said, will be of immense help for the net users in the twin cities. The State government is making all-out efforts for completing the task by year end he said.
To avail this facility at the Secunderabad railway station, the citizens should be close to the foot over bridge and through their mobile phones can connect to the WIFI called railway MTS.
Not only this, the officials are even planning to avail the WIFI facilities in various express and premier trains that travel through the Secunderabad railway station. Besides, the officials are planning to introduce WIFI in more cities in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and regarding this, Gigabyte ethernet switch costing Rs 50 lakh would be arranged.
By the end of this financial year, the South Central Railway zone will introduce WIFI services in 74 other railway stations. (NSS)
