The State Government would fulfill its promise of providing drinking water to every household before of next elections in the State.
MA&UD Minister K.T. Rama Rao reiterated this in the Telangana Assembly on Wednesday while replying to a question pertaining to Mission Bhagiratha Project. He said the work with regard to Mission Bhagiratha was in progress as per schedule to ensure that safe drinking water supply to every house hold. He said already drinking water under the scheme was being supplied to the households in 49 Assembly constituencies and work was in progress in other constituencies on a brisk pace. “We will ensure that every household would get drinking water before the next elections in the State,” he declared. As a matter of fact, to facilitate the speeding up of the mission works, a Drinking Water Corporation has been created and the required staff was being employed.
Replying to supplementary questions by the TRS members, KTR said taking into view the rampant fluoride content in the water in Devakarakonda and other areas of Nalgonda district, the Chief Minister was very particular that safe drinking water should be supplied to the people. Therefore all steps are being taken to ensure safe drinking water through Mission Bhagiratha in the district at the earliest, he said and assured that steps would also be taken to ensure that all the schools would fitted with taps for drinking water supply.
