K’taka seeks water assistance from Telangana

Bengaluru (Karnataka): The Karnataka Government has sought Telangana’s assistance for sustainable solutions to water shortage in the state’s Tungabhadra watershed.

A meeting was attended by Karnataka Minister MB Patil and MLAs on Saturday in Hyderabad with Telangana Water Resources Minister Harish Rao.

The Karnataka team held discussions with the state government on water use and asked for permission to use the water allocated to Telangana.

Harish Rao said that the Tungabhadra dam had 3.5 tmc feet of water for Telangana and 7,000 acres of irrigation in the Alampur assembly constituency requires irrigation water.

The decision will be taken after discussing the matter with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. (ANI)
