K’taka Govt decides to open ‘Indira Canteen’ in all cities

Bengaluru (Karnataka): The Karnataka government on Wednesday has decided to open ‘Indira Canteen’ facility to other parts of the state having a population of one lakh or above from January 1, 2018.

These canteens will be setup in government hospitals, bus stands and railway stations, so that it will be an easy approach for the poor and needy.

According to reports, there are 121 locations outside Bengaluru that have been chosen, where 246 Indira Canteens will be functioning from January.

Earlier in the day, while briefing the media, law minister TB Jayachandra said, “The cabinet has set three deadlines for the urban development department and the local bodies to set up these canteens in the state”.

The cabinet has also decided to give the under privileged two-burner gas stove and two refills of LPG cylinder under chief minister’s Anila Bhagya Scheme. (ANI)
