K’taka CM urges AP CM to assist for waiver of farmers loan

Bangalore, October 23: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today urged his counterpart Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah for coordination in making a joint request to the Centre for waiver of agriculture loans availed by the farmers from banks.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Yeddyurappa, after his meeting with Mr Rosaiah said, there is a need for coordination in times of crises for sharing the information and relief to the affected people.

Mr Rosaiah had agreed to collaborate with the State Government in repairs of roads and bridges damaged due to floods on the border areas of the both States, the Chief Minister said, adding Tungabhadra bridge should be accorded top priority. as it is a major link between the two States.

This approach is completely shunned aside and it requires to be repared immedeately for public use at a cost of Rs 39 crore, he said.

As a permanent measure, a new bridge needs to be built at a cost Rs 300 crore, Mr Yeddyurappa said, adding Karnataka would submit a detailed report to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.

”We need the collaboration of Andhra Pradesh in reconstructing old-bridges and construction of a new bridge. Both the States could jointly seek central assistance for these projects, he said.
