Bangalore, January 25: Ruling BJP in Karnataka will seek President Prathibha Patil s help to stall UPA government s move to carve 4.5 per cent reservation for minorities out of 27 per cent existing for backward class in the country. The party would submit a memorandum to the President seeking her intervention in the issue. Addressing a press conference here, newly formed BJP Karnataka Backwardclass morcha President and Member of Parliament P C Mohan said a convention of leaders from Backward Clsses would be held on February three in the city. After collecting opinion, a memorandum would be prepared. The memorandum would be submitted to the President on April 7 or 8. Senior central leaders of the BJP will also join the delegation meeting the President, he added. Mr Mohan said that if the Centre refuses to withdraw its proposal, a huge convention would be held in April to discuss the issue and create public opinion against the UPA government s proposal. Chief Minister s Political Secretary B J Puttaswamy, who was also present, said that this was for the first time the BJP State unit has created Backward Class Morcha to bring the deprived section into party fold and ensure them all the benefits available under Centre and State Governments.
