Krishnam Raju keen on contesting LS poll from BJP

Hyderabad: Former Union minister Krishnam Raju has evinced interest in contesting upcoming elections from BJP. He said he was ready to contest the elections if the party leadership asked him to do so. Although the party reduced to a level of a non-entity due to its retraction from the promise of according Special status to the State, Krishnam Raju appears to be banking upon the popularity of his nephew and actor Prabhas to win the elections.

Krishnam Raju, who was elected as MP on behalf of BJP earlier, worked as a Union minister of State in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Union cabinet. He had won as MP twice from Kakinada and Narsapur Lok Sabha constituencies. However, he lost the election from Rajahmundry at the hands of Congress leader Vundavalli Arun Kumar in 2009 elections.
