BC Welfare Association President R Krishnaiah today demanded that Telangana State Government should hike income limit for students of BC and EBC on the lines of food security cards. He asked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here to increase the income limit to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1 lakh. Since the existing income limit is not apt to the present conditions, the government should consider his demand, he said. He also expressed concern that the revenue officials are reluctant to issue income certificates with lower income amounts. He explained that the students with Rs 60,000 income are entitled to get loans and those with Rs 44,000 income can get pre-matric scholarship. As the MROs are denying issue of necessary certificates to the students with such low income there is an immediate need for hiking the limit he asserted. Keeping these facts in view the state government should take immediate steps to raise the income limit, Krishnaiah added. (NSS)
