Krishna Water Row: CWC calls meet on July 8 or 9; TRS Govt. to demand due share

The TRS Government has decided to file a complaint and express discontent with Krishna Management Board and take up the issue to the notice of the Central Water Commission with regard to river water sharing for irrigation, according to sources.
A meeting held by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao felt pressure should be exerted on the Central Water Commission for Telangana share of waters from the Krishna Water Board. The meeting expressed discontent over the Board calling a meeting without prior intimation.
In the meanwhile, the Central Water Committee wrote separate letters to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments inviting them to attend a meeting likely to be held on July 8 or 9. It is likely that supply of Krishna Delta waters, objections by TRS Government and demanding its due share and others may crop up during the meeting.
CWC Chairman AB Pandya informed the governments to send two representatives each to express their voice. The TRS Government informed the CWC that it had released 3.5 TMC waters to Krishna delta. The Government also urged the CWC to supply 3 TMC water to Nalgonda district through Nagarjuna Sagar left canal. (NSS)
