Krishna tops and Mahbubnagar at bottom in inter first year results

As usual, girls proved their supremacy over boys by registering pass percentage of 58.32 as against 49.73 pass percent of boys in the first year Intermediate Examination Results 2012 which were announced here today.

For the second consecutive year, the Krishna district stood first while the poverty-stricken Mahbubnagar district remained in the last position in the results. While the Krishna district occupied first place by achieving 71 pass percentage, Visakhapatnam district trailed with 65 pass percentage. The Mahbubnagar district remained in the last place with 37 pass percentage.

Among the government junior colleges in the State, 76.2 percent students passed in Adilabad district. In the vocational courses, highest number of 42 percent students passed in Nalgonda district. Only 18 per cent of students passed in Nizamabad and Mahbubnagar districts.

The results were released by Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasaradhi at 10 am. In the entire State, 41.45 per cent students passed in A grade, 32.21 per cent passed in B grade, 18.18 percent in C grade and 8.16 per cent in D grade. Compared to last year results, pass percentage this year improved by 1.54%.

After announcement of the results, officials of the Board of Intermediate Education said that the students can apply for recounting of marks up to Mayt 3. They said that Advanced Supplementary results will be conducted from May 23 and practical examinations will be held from June 5 to 9. May 2 is the last date for submission of applications for Advanced Supplementary Examinations, they added.

Poor pass percentage in most of the Telangana districts indicates that the students were badly affected by the month-long Sakala Janula Samme (All Peoples Strike) in the region. Most Telangana districts secured low pass percentages like Nizamabad (38), Medak (41), Nalgonda (44), Warangal (45), Adilabad (47) and Karimnagar (47). However, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts fared well with 63 and 55 per cent respectively.

Out of the 8,50,433 candidates, who took the examination, 41.45 per cent figured in “A” grade (greater than or equal to 75 per cent) while 32.21 per cent secured “B” grade (greater than or equal to 60 per cent and less than 75 per cent). The rest were in “C” and “D” grades. Girls fared better than boys.

Candidates, who have passed in all papers, can appear for improvement, on payment of Rs 100 per paper in addition to the normal examination fees. Candidates who wish to go for recounting have to pay Rs 100 per paper and Rs 600 per paper for photocopy as well as re-verification of answer book. The last date is May 3.

The Minister announced that results of all the private colleges will be put on the website to nullify any false claims. Parents and students can analyse the performance of the colleges they wish to seek admission in with this initiative, he said.
