Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu today said the NDA had announced name of Ramnath Kovind for president post as he has all required qualities, eligible and suitable for the post.
Ramnath Kovind met Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and sought his support for his election as President. Speaking on the occasion, Venkaiah Naidu, who was also present, thanked KCR on behalf of the Centre and BJP for extending TRS party support to Ramnath Kovind.
The Union minister said the candidature of Ramnath Kovind was announced as he is a bachelor , writer, gentleman, who commands respect and committed to the Constitution. He was elected to Rajya Sabha twice and discharged duties as Governor of Bihar efficiently. Though Kovind has majority for presidential post, the Congress has announced another candidate in the fray for the post, he said, adding that every citizen has right to contest election in a democracy.
