Hyderabad: The State Government is mulling over converting the Government Women’s College at Koti into an exclusive women’s university. Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiyam Srihari told this. He claimed that the college had all the necessary infrastructure to be converted into a university.
He said he would discuss the matter with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. As soon as the CM gives a nod, admissions into the university would be made from the next academic year.
The Koti Women’s College which is in the heart of the city is spread over 40 acres. Mr Srihari said the lone women’s university in the erstwhile united State went to Andhra Pradesh and the State was left with no such institution. The women’s college was presently offering 42 undergraduate and post-graduate courses, but there was absence of research work.
