Tension prevailed when the Telangana protagonists squatted on the roads in protest against the arrest of Korutla MLA Vidhyasagar Rao in Korutla on Thursday. Later, the police released the MLA. The TRS leaders have alleged that the police arrested the MLA when he was going to meet Governor ESL Narasimhan.
The police detained several Telangana protagonists, who were agitating in support of the Telangana March to be held on September 30. In Nalgonda town, police obstructed the rally of lawyers. Police detained some 100 Telangana protagonists in Suryapet. Police have also resorted to precautionary arrests in Mancherial, Bellampally and Srirampur towns in Adilabad district.
In Warangal, police arrested New Democracy leaders stating that they have no permission to organise the public meeting. In Jangaon, police obstructed the Telangana “Kavathu” and detained several protagonists.
Protesting against unprovoked arrests, POW leader Sandhya said the State government was fuelling violence and the arrests of Telangana protagonists were undemocratic.
