Korean Air jet catches fire, forcing evacuation

Tokyo: A Korean Air jet suspended its takeoff from Tokyo’s Haneda airport after its port engine caught fire, forcing the evacuation of about 320 people on Friday.

The fire was reported around 12:44 p.m. and extinguished.

Security officials said that none of the 302 passengers and 17 crew were injured, but unconfirmed reports said that about 30 people became sick, reports Japan Times.

A government official assigned to the incident said the cause of the fire is not known yet.

The Boeing 777 was bound for Seoul from Tokyo. Meanwhile, the runway has been closed and operations on three other runways were temporarily halted.(ANI)
