Hyderabad, November 18: Chairman of the Telangana Political JAC, Prof Kodandaram had a meeting with the Home Minister Mrs Sabitha Indira Reddy here today and discussed the Hyderabad free zone issue.
Speaking to the media at the end of the talks, Prof Kodandaram said that he has requested the Home Minister not to go ahead with the recruitment tests without getting 14 F removed from the Presidential order. He wanted the Home Minister that the examinations be put-off in the background of the free zone controversy and the future of the students of the Telangana region, and also keeping in view the health condition of the students who were on hunger strike.
He informed the Minister that if the Government adopts an adamant attitude in regard to holding the examinations, the matter would go to the Court and then the Government would have to face an embarrassing situation.
Prof. Kodandaram has also requested the Minister to appoint two officials on the free zone issue and select two M Ps also to bring pressure on the Center in the matter.
He said that the Home Minister asked for one day time on their demands. She also responded positively to have discussions with the students. Though her response was positive to their demands, they would continue the agitation till a firm assurance came from the Government, he added. The question of having another meeting with the Minister would be decided after her response. An action plan would be worked out only after seeing her response on the issue, he stated.
