Kadapa, July 9: MLC Konda Murali created flutter at the inaugural of the YSR Congress (YSRC) plenary meeting at Idupulapaya, 60 km from here, on Friday by shouting ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans.
The delegates observed two minutes’ silence for those martyrs of Telangana and Samaikyandhara movements. Immediately after that, Murali, who was sitting next to YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, raised Telangana slogans. His sentiments were echoed by few other delegates. At a time when the Telangana movement is on the boil, Murali’s slogan shouting turned into a hot topic of discussion among the delegates. Many wondered whether it was wise for the party to flag a separate statehood banner. The plenary took off on a glittering note, with the hoisting of the party flag by party founder president and Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy amidst thundering applause by a group of 10,000 delegates and a huge gathering of party activists from across the state. The programme began by 10.30 am, about ninety minutes behind schedule and as many as 15 MLAs, 5 MLCs.
19 MLAs, 6 MLCs, 2 MPs attend YSR Cong plenary
