Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar have met state DGP M Mahender Reddy asking the latter to restore their gunmen as the High Court delivered its verdict in favour of them restoring their membership of the Assembly.
Speaking to the media after submitting a memorandum to the DGP at latter’s office here on Thursday, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that they explained everything to DGP. “The government provided gunmen to the TRS leaders who have no public following. We told to DGP that the Minister G Jagdeesh Reddy and Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham were in murder cases. The police filed cases against Congress activists for celebrating the High Court verdict. We will not keep quiet and we will lay seize to the DGP office if the police files illegal cases against party activists”, he warned.
He said they will stage 48-hours hunger strike at Jantar Mantar if the TRS government failed to restore their facilities. “We once again approach the Court and file a contempt of the Court petition”, he informed. He alleged that the police were beating the Congress party activists similar to buffaloes in the police stations.
Sampath Kumar said that they asked the DGP to implement the High Court verdict. “The government has to restore all facilities to them. The TRS party is trying to suppress our voice. The police department has to restore security to them. DGP is trying to shield the issue. The police inaction will attract contempt of the Court. We will go to Court once again”, he warned. (NSS)
