Kolkata: A man whose twin sons and wife were found dead in their house here last month has admitted to murdering all three, Kolkata Police said on Tuesday. The bodies of 16-year-old twins, Darren and Joshua, and their mother Jessica Fonseca were found inside an apartment in Kolkata’s Palm Avenue area on January 16.
[Kolkata triple murder: Mother, twin sons found dead with their throats slit] Kolkata The twins’ father 49-year-old Neil Fonseca, who was also found critically injured with deep cuts on his throat and hand, was interrogated by police on Monday and Tuesday.
[Kolkata triple murder: Police suspect husband] “He admitted that he murdered the three,” said Special Additional Commissioner of Kolkata Police (Crime) Debasish Boral. Asked about the motive, Boral said: “It will slowly become clear.”
However, another police officer said Neil Fonseca had accumulated a huge debt and was also involved in an extra-marital relationship. According to the officer, Fonseca first killed his wife and then the twins in the early hours of January 16. Police had recovered three bloodstained kitchen knives and a 25-pound dumbbell from the crime scene.
Earlier, Fonseca had claimed that his wife killed her two sons before killing herself.
