Knowledge of Urdu must for knowing the culture of our ancestors – Zahid Ali Khan

Hyderabad: Dept. of Urdu of Govt. Degree College, Siddipet organized a two day national seminar on “Children’s Literature in Contemporary Era and Our responsibilities”.

Addressing the seminar as Chief Guest, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily told that the first school of children is their mother. The children get training from their mothers. In order to learn etiquette and culture, they should learn their mother tongue, Urdu. He pointed out that Osmania University which had started imparting education through the medium of Urdu, stalwarts, Dr. M. Chenna Reddy, Dr. Raj Bahadur Gaur, Dr. S.A. Mannan, Mr. A. Madan Mohan and others passed out from this university. They not only brought laurels to the State but also to the country. The younger generation has forgotten history and cultural heritage of our ancestors. It is essential that we should make our children aware of our history.

He further pointed out that the present era is the age of Science and Technology which is helpful in promoting the taste of learning among the children. He advised the parents that along with making their children doctors and engineers, they should also inculcate their interest to become journalists. He made a reference to the Andhra rulers and said that due to their predominance, Urdu was set aside.

Highlighting the efforts of Siasat Urdu Daily, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that it is making an effort to popularize Urdu among the students. Due to interlinking of Siasat with internet, it is being read throughout the world. He made a reference to Mr. KCR and said that he has tremendous affection for Urdu language. He recalled that 20 year back, on the occasion of laying down foundation stone for the construction of a masjid, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan had desired KCR to learn Urdu which he fulfilled within a year and gained expertise in Urdu language.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan demanded the Govt. of TS to equate Urdu Fazil Course with intermediate examination. He mentioned that Siasat Urdu Daily has been promoting social activities, burial of unclaimed Muslim dead bodies, arranging matrimonial alliances of Muslim girls etc through Millat Relief Fund.

On his arrival at Siddipet, the youths garlanded Mr. Zahid Ali Khan and welcomed him.

Mr. Farooq Husain, TRS MLC said that for the development of Urdu language, it is essential to link it with employment. He said that Mr. KCR established many residential schools for Minorities where free education is being provided. He applauded the efforts of Mr. Zahid Ali Khan and said that very soon there will be an educational revolution among the Muslims of Telangana and many Muslim candidates would enter into IAS and IPS.

Dr. Asrarul Haq of the Dept. of Urdu welcomed the guests and Mr. Srinivas Reddy, Principal of the college conducted the meeting.
