Cheryl Fernandez-Versini recently found out that her long-forgotten great, great, great grandfather was quintessential Tommy in the First World War.
In a gripping episode of ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ the 33-year-old singer found out that she had an ancestor who survived in one of the key battles of the First World War, reports the Mirror.
Executive producer of the show Colette Flight said, “As we follow our celebrities on their personal journey into their family trees, an extraordinary range of incredible stories are revealed, sometimes tragic, sometimes funny, but always compelling.”
Cheryl has always been a huge fan of the British military.
In 2011 she flew out to visit troops in Afghanistan, arriving at Camp Bastion in the Helmand province to mark 10 years of British operations in the country.
“I always had admiration for what the guys do out here, but seeing them here at work is awe-inspiring,” she said.
