NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu, who donned the role of a defense lawyer Aarti Mohammed in her forthcoming film “Mulk”, garnering a lot of fantastic reviews.
Soon after the trailer of the movie ‘Mulk’ was unveiled, it received opinions like ‘Emotional’, ‘relevant’, ‘dramatic without being over-the-top’… as some of the adjectives.
One man named Vasid Shaikh who is not only a Muslim citizen but also a criminal lawyer. He took to his Facebook to voice his opinions on the much-anticipated courtroom drama ‘Mulk.
Vasid appreciate the 53-year-old directed by Anubhav Sinha for choosing such a strong topic and was all praise of Taapsee for essaying this strong role.

To this, Taapsee replied, “When we made the film we knew we are going to get as much love as hatred on social media. We were kind of prepared for it. But the kind of appreciation coming from this lawyer, a professional who probably would’ve seen such cases in his career, makes it really special. In Mulk, we have tried to raise the idea of humanity over any religion and what is the true nationalism and it’s only a matter of few days before we see how our audience responds. This particular video was very encouraging,” reported India.com.
The 2-minute-40-second-long video puts spotlight on the issue of Islamophobia that needs to be discussed in the politically-charged climate.
Sinha received various comments and was also subjected to vicious trolling on social media over the film. He was accused of running propaganda to garner support and sympathy for Muslims through the film.
The team also launched a specially conducted survey called ‘My Mulk Survey’ to understand the issues faced by Muslims in India.
Featuring Rishi Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Neena Gupta, Taapsee Pannu and Prateik Babbar, and releasing on August 3, “Mulk” is a courtroom drama about restoring the honour of a Muslim family accused of treason.
