KKR speaks to Babu, health deteriorates

Hyderabad, December 19: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday spoke to Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu over the phone and appealed him to withdraw his fast considering his deteriorating health condition.

The health condition of Mr Naidu, who is on an indefinite hunger strike since Friday, deteriorated on Sunday with his sugar levels falling.

According to sources, the Chief Minister expressed serious concern over Opposition Leader’s health and urged him to call off his fast. Sources say that KKR did not give Mr Naidu any concrete assurance over the revision of the compensation package.

Sources said that Mr. Naidu barely managed to speak with the Chief Minister since he has become quite weak.

Doctors attending to the former chief minister said his condition deteriorated due to dipping blood sugar levels.

Earlier, the Best Farmer Awardee Nagaratnam Naidu, who is also fasting alongside the TDP chief, was shifted to Osmania General Hospital as his condition deteriorated on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, extending solidarity with Mr Naidu, his family members, including wife Bhuvaneshwari, son Lokesh and daughter-in-law Vasundara too joined his fast. Film actor Jr. NTR and family member Taraka Ratna also called on the fasting TDP leader and expressed their solidarity and concern.
