State B.C. Mahajana Samithi chairman U. Sambasiva Rao on Tuesday held the State government alone responsible for the B.C reservations controversy in the Panchayat and local body elections.
Speaking to media persons here, Sambasiva Rao alleged that the State government conspired to increase the B.C. Reservation quota in the Panchayat and local body elections by ignoring the High Court single judge verdict on BC reservations issue. He also alleged that the Congress government scared of defeat in the Panchayat and local body elections as Telangana Rashtra Samithi and YSR Congress Party have strong cadres in Telangana and Seemandhra regions. Therefore, the State government has conspired to postpone the elections on the pretext of controversy over B.C reservations issue, he added.
Sambasiva Rao alleged that the Congress government was trying to postpone Panchayat and local body elections as the ruling party fears loss of BC vote bank following the TDP’s BC Declaration announced recently. Stating that the High Court has reserved its verdict on BC reservations in Panchayat and local body elections, he threatened to launch nation-wide agitation if the State government failed to protect BC reservations in the local body elections.
Andhra Pradesh MBC Committee president U. Chakravarthi and spokesperson Maddapati Subbarao were also present. (NSS)
