KK welcomes party’s RS nominees

Rajya Sabha MP K Keshava Rao on Monday said that he was not upset over not getting re-nominated for the post, although he was aware of it beforehand.

Addressing a press conference here, Keshava Rao announced that he would continue his agitation seeking statehood for Telangana region. Welcoming the party’s decision to nominate K Chiranjeevi, Renuka Chowdhary, P Govardhan Reddy and R Anand Bhaskar for the Rajya Sabha seats from the State, he hoped that they would support the statehood cause.

However, he criticised Home Minister P Chidambaram’s recent statement that there was confusion over Telangana issue within the Congress party. He said that it was because of Congress party that the Telangana issue was mentioned in the speech of the then President Dr Abdul Kalaam and it was Chidambaram himself who announced the formation of Telangana state on December 9, 2009.

Keshava Rao hoped that the Congress party would take a favourable decision on giving statehood for the Telangana region. (INN)
