KJo has just about had it with ‘parent-loving’ titles

Mumbai, April 02: Karan Johar to drop title Love You, Maa; feels two films in recent memory expressing love for parents is enough

Karan Johar’s film is back to square one. The title Love You, Maa for producer Karan Johar’s remake of Stepmom which had been arrived at after much deliberation has been dropped, no thanks to two recent films with similar titles.

Says Karan, “After Irfan Kamal’s Thanks, Maa and Shyam Benegal’s Well Done, Abba we’ve had just about enough of titles expressing appreciation for the parent. So yes, I’ve abandoned plans of calling our film Love You, Maa.

A frantic hunt is on for a new title. With exasperating regularity, Karan Johar’s films have been challenged for titles. Sighs Karan, “Fortunately, there’s still some way to go before the release. I’m so relieved that our next production I Hate Luv Storys which releases on 2 July has a title. Imagine what a state of panic we would be in if that project was nameless!”

This time finding a title is a more difficult task for Karan. “The Stepmom remake features my two most favourite actresses. I can’t imagine Kajol and Kareena Kapoor coming together again in a hurry. Everything about this project including the title has to be super-special.”

Karan has nothing against the films that have prompted him to chuck the title Love You, Maa. “I’m sure Thanks, Maa and Well Done, Abba needed the titles that they got. But we can’t have one more film in praise of the parent, please! So a full stop to titles with a comma in them.”
