KJo apologises Raj Thackeray over ‘Bombay’

Mumbai, October 02: With Karan Johar’s ‘Wake Up Sid’ hitting theatres on 2nd October, the use of word ‘Bombay’ instead of ‘Mumbai’ has landed the film into a political controversy, courtesy Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

Known for its ‘Marathi Manoos’ agenda and political militancy, MNS has once again raised its ‘Amchi Mumbai’ tirade and has blasted Karan Johar’s latest release ‘Wake Up Sid’ for referring Mumbai as Bombay.

According to the latest news, Karan reached Raj Thackeray’s house a few minutes back and has apologized for referring Mumbai city as Bombay in film. The director is likely to reason with the party chief over the issue.

Speaking on the controversy, Karan told reporters, “It was a genuine mistake on our part…henceforth, we will use Mumbai instead of Bombay. We have apologised for the same.”

It is believed that the director will be coming with a formal apology by holding a press conference for the same later today.
