Hyderabad, June 11: “Leave Hyderabad and flee to Hindustan” read the letter received by Bharatiya Janata Party State president G Kishan Reddy a fortnight ago by an outfit styling itself “Islamic Republic of Hyderabad, LashkareTaiba Suicide Bomber Cell”.
A case was registered by the Abids police today.
Police, however, ruled out the involvement of any Islamic militant outfit behind the letter and said a land dispute between two communities in the Old City could be behind the threat and since Kishan Reddy was BJP president, the missive was addressed to him.
The post card addressed to Kishan Reddy was delivered to the party office opposite Exhibition Grounds 15 days ago. Almost all the contents were in Urdu except for the name of the organisation which was written in the Roman script: Islamic Republic of Hyderabad, LashkareTaeeba.
Police had the letter translated into Telugu which, rendered into English, reads: “Kishan Reddy leave Hyderabad and go to Hindustan. Otherwise, Hindu women and men would not be spared and they would be killed. Begum Bazar has become an RSS hub and we will destroy it. My friend, Raheem, is the owner of Aziz general stores adjacent to Goshala (at Shamsheergunj). Sell the Goshala land to him. He is helping us financially to procure arms.”
The letter also said: “HindiHinduHindustan bhago. If they have the guts, arrest the suicide bombers. Our suicide bombers are throughout the country. Hindus should flee from Hyderabad for their own good. Hand over the Shamsheergunj Goshala land to Raheem Bhai immediately or it would be destroyed.”
Incidentally, the Goshala at Shamsheergunj was attacked by miscreants during the recent communal clashes and four cows were killed.
Central Zone DCP Akun Sabarwal ruled out the possibility of involvement of any Islamic militant organisation. “There is no terror angle to it and some local persons have sent the letter,” he said. “It appears a dispute over a piece of land between two communities in the Old City might have resulted in the letter,” Sabarwal said.
Meanwhile, Abids police have registered a case and are investigating. Police are trying to find out from where the letter was posted.
