Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy will leave for Nellore by 12.45 pm flight via Tirupati to console the victims of the ghastly fire accident in the Chennai bound Tamil Nadu Express near Nellore Railway Station early hours of today. He will return to Hyderabad via Chennai by evening flight.
The Chief Minister expressed shock and anguish over the accident and said that it is very unfortunate. He conveyed his heart-felt condolences to the members of the bereaved families.
Earlier, as soon as he received the information about the accident, the Chief Minister directed the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, officials of Fire & Emergency Services, Medical Department to rush to the spot to supervise personally the rescue and relief operations on war-footing basis. The CM also instructed Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew to monitor relief operations on a minute-to-minute basis and also to coordinate with the Railway officials of Secunderabad and Delhi.
He asked the administration to press into service the additional medical teams, specialist doctors and to shift the injured to nearby hospitals. He also instructed them to extend the best possible medical treatment to the injured immediately. He also spoke to the local MLAs, people’s representatives and asked them to rush to the spot to oversee the relief operations personally and help the victims.
Accordingly, the district administration, including district Collector, Superintendent of Police, Medical, Fire Service officials with rescue teams and additional doctor teams rushed to the spot and plunged into relief operations. People’s representatives also visited the spot and are supervising the relief operations.
