Tirumala, December 25: Chief minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, along with his family members, had the darshan of Lord Venakteswara at the temple here tonight.
The chief minister was accorded warm welcome on arrival at Sri Padmavathi Guest House on Tirumala at 7 pm by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam executive officer IYR Krishna Rao and other officials.
It was Reddy’s first visit to his home district after becoming chief minister. Some of his family members had arrived at the shrine much earlier and joined him for darshan.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Specified Authority chairman J Satyanarayana accompanied chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and his 35-member-strong entourage. Chief priest AV Ramana Dikshitulu and other Vedic pandits welcomed him at the Mahadwaram at 7.40 pm with temple honours. Reddy spent 7 minutes in the sanctum sanctorum worshipping Venkateswara. Reddy and his wife, after making pradakshinam, offered kanukas in the hundi. He was given sesha vastram showered with Aseervachanam in Ranganayakula Mandapam. Satyanarayana and IYR Rao presented Devasthanam calenders, Srivari photo, publications, a CD of devotional songs and prasadams to him.
