Kiran demands action against Jagan loyalists

Hyderabad, May 20: After the detractors of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, it was the turn of his supporters to become active in the State Congress and demand action by the party high command.

Chief Minister Reddy and some of his supporters have urged the party high command for action against at least two Ministers who were reportedly in cahoots with Congress bete noire YS Jaganmohan Reddy, highly placed sources said.

According to sources, when Kiran Kumar Reddy’s detractors were complaining to the AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad against him during his visit to Hyderabad earlier this week, the Chief Minister had briefed Azad about two Ministers who were allegedly passing secrets of the Cabinet meetings to Jagan.

The two Ministers, who hail from Andhra were reportedly unhappy with the portfolios given to them and had demanded a change.

Sources said that the Chief Minister told Azad that because of the activities of these Ministers, he was not able to convene the meeting of the Cabinet. The Chief Minister also wanted action against a few other Ministers whose relatives were also siding with Jagan.

It may be mentioned here that brother-MLA of senior Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao was among the Congress legislators who visited Jaganmohan Reddy’s hunger strike camps in Guntur earlier this week. In all, 17 Congress MLAs had visited Jagan during the latest hunger strike.

The Chief Minister’s camp was now demanding that these Ministers should either ensure that their relatives don’t support Jagan or they should be dropped from the Cabinet. They were also demanding that action should be taken against all the pro-Jagan MLAs.

This being so, a senior Congress leader from Telangana region P Govardhan Reddy alleged that another Minister K Venkat Reddy and his brother and MP K Rajgopal Reddy were also covert agents of Jaganmohan Reddy. “If the activities of such people are not checked, the Chief Minister will in be in serious problems”, he said.
