Kiran Being Called To Delhi To Explain About Complaints Against Him

The Congress High Command would summon Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to New Delhi and seek his explanation regarding numerous complaints made against him by party leaders from Andhra Pradesh.

Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, who is also in-chare of State party affairs, said that numerous complaints were received against the Chief Minister and that he would be asked to come and give his explanation. He said he would tour the State after the winter session of Parliament.

Speaking about the contentious issue of separate Telangana State, Ravi said the Congress High Command was seriously engaged in the matter and would resolve it soon. However, he could not indicate when the problem would be resolved.

Regarding the Central leaders holding discussions with TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao, the Union Minister quipped that it was not important as to who had invited him for discussions. The fact is that discussions were held with him in an attempt to evolve a solution to the knotty problem, he observed. He did agree that Congress Central leaders held discussions with KCR and it was not important as to who had invited him for discussions. He also felt that it was necessary and important to convene an all-party meeting so that various opinions could be elicited to resolve the crisis.

Referring to reports about defections from the party and also moves of some senior leaders intending to join either YSRC or TDP, Vayalar Ravi pointed out that switching loyalties before elections was a common phenomenon. However, he was confident that the issue of Congressmen defecting to other parties in the State would not be alarming as Congressmen were always loyal to the party.

Meanwhile, another Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad also revealed that a solution to the Telangana issue would be evolved, but could not state exactly as to when it would happen. He also did not worry much about reports regarding party leaders defecting to other parties. He categorically said there was no question of changing the Chief Minister and felt that it was all the making of the media.

Home Minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy, at a function, exuded confidence that an announcement from the High Command would come before December 9. (NSS)
