Johannesburg: Newly-crowned French Open champion Novak Djokovic believes that enticing prospect of completing a calendar Grand Slam is ‘achievable’.
After capturing his elusive title at Roland Garros on Sunday, the Serbian world number one became the eighth man in the history of sport to achieve a career Grand Slam as well as third to hold all four majors simultaneously.
Djokovic was subtle in saying ‘everything is achievable in life’ and pointed out that reaching a calendar slam still remains a possibility, Sport24 reported.
While relishing the prospect of completing a calendar Grand Slam, Djokovic said he would achieve one of the ultimate challenges as a tennis player if he becomes the first player since legendary Australian Rod Laver in 1969 to do the same.
Despite losing the first set, Djokovic bounced back in imperious fashion to defeat Andy Murray 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 to win his first French Open title after suffering heartbreaking losses in his three previous finals in Paris. (ANI)
