King Abdullah extends national dialogue to families

Al Ahsa, August 01: King Abdullah, Custodia of the Two Holy Mosques, has instructed the King Abdul Aziz National Dialogue Center (NDC) to promote the “culture of family dialogue” around the Kingdom in order to address social problems identified as resulting from a lack of dialogue and communication.

Muhammad Al-Shuwei’ir of the NDC said the “ambitious program” to train individual family members in dialogue would start from Al-Ahsa due to its successful social and domestic development centers.

“The National Dialogue Center has 800 male and female trainers skilled in communication and dialogue, and they have conducted training for 80,000 people to ingrain the culture of dialogue and help put it into practice,” Al-Shuwei’ir said.

“The absence of dialogue in some families has led to numerous problems and deviations from acceptable behavior, as well as acute marital differences, domestic violence, divorce and crime,” he said.

The NDC has since its inception held seven national gatherings addressing themes such as national unity, extremism, youth and women’s issues, and how to interact with other cultures.
