Hyderabad, October 09: The family members of those who laid down their lives for the T cause staged a dharna at Telangana Bhavan under the banner Telangana Amaraveerula Kutumbala Ikya Vedika under the leadership of one Raghuma Reddy here today.
The agitators reached the Telangana Bhavan and registered their protest by holding placards. They alleged that TRS and its chief K Chandrasekhar Rao failed to come to their rescue and instead were busy celebrating Batukamma festival after collecting huge amounts of money. They also alleged that TRS leaders had given them cheques that bounced when presented for collection in banks. “Nearly 628 students and youth committed suicides in the region but the TRS did not help a single family,” Raghuma Reddy said.
After an hour-long protest, the police entered the seen and arrested the agitators.
Meanwhile, TRS leaders condemned Raghuma Reddy’s charges. “The allegations are baseless. The TRS is committed to helping the victims and it has been doing it without publicity,” TRSV (student wing) president B Suman told reporters at Telangana Bhavan.
