Bemoaning the tragic death of four laborers in a manhole at Ayyappa Society in high-tec city Madhapur, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin has announced Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia to each bereaved family. He also announced that double bedroom houses will be allocated to them.
Earlier, bereaved family members staged a dharna on the road at Manikeshwari Nagar near Osmania University. It may be recalled that four laborers died of asphyxiation after getting into a 20-ft deep manhole at Ayyappa Society on Saturday. The deceased contract workers of GHMC were identified as Satyanarayana, Nagesh, Chandu and Gangadhar died while trying to save three laborers by entering the manhole. (NSS)
