Killer shivered before firing fatal shot

Hyderabad, January 05: The man, who shot dead faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri, is believed to have shivered as he opened fire, a team of forensic experts at the Osmania General Hospital have concluded. The evidence: two bullets extracted from Suri’s body had a gap of eight inches between them.

‘’Two bullets were recovered — one from the cerebellum and the other from the right ear bone. The gap between the two was eight inches.

It appears that while the shooter opened fire, his hands were shivering. Hence, the bullet hit him in different locations,’’ Narayan Reddy, one of the team members, told reporters.

Three doctors, Narayan Reddy, Janardhan and Devaraj, conducted the postmortem on Suri’s body here on Tuesday after which it was handed over to the late factionist’s family members.

Suri’s wife Gangula Bhanumathi and his relatives came to the hospital to claim the body.

The doctors opined that Suri was shot from a close proximity of about two-three inches and that his death was instant. Their report contradicts the version of the Apollo Hospital which maintained that Suri had died at 7.45 p.m.

on Monday. According to the Apollo hospital authorities, Suri was admitted to the hospital at 5.45 p.m in an unconscious state. He wasn’ t breathing at the time. He died at 7.45 p.m after a massive heart attack. “A person’s internal organs including the heart will be active even 30 minutes after death. Since corporate hospitals have advanced technology, they would have made attempts to resuscitate him,” Narayan Reddy told Express.

The bullet stuck near the right ear was recovered from the temple bone. It broke into three pieces upon impact.

The experts also found burns inside the head caused as a result of the close proximity of the weapon. Two hours before his death, Suri had food, the particles of which were also found in his body.

The doctors said they might take at least a month to submit a detailed report.
