KIFF: Shah Rukh comically asks Mamata to let him showcase ‘Zero’ trailer

Kolkata, (West Bengal) [India] Nov 10 (ANI): In a rather comical manner, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan asked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to let the trailer of his upcoming film ‘Zero’ be screened on the inaugural day of the 24th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) on Saturday.

The actor further said that the Chief Minister should give him permission to showcase his movie at KIFF as it would never be played at any international film festivals in the years to come.

The Chief Minister was seen laughing as she was caught off-guard on the unusual request made by the ‘Chak De India’ star.

“My films will never ever be played at international festivals, maybe they don’t deserve to,” he said. “There will come a time when one of my films will get selected for an international festival of this reckoning,” he further added.

Hoping that one of his films be played at one of the international film festivals across the country, he asked the film festival authorities to let the trailer of the upcoming movie be played on the big screen.

Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, the trailer of ‘Zero’ showcases the journey of Bauua Singh (played by SRK) – a vertically challenged man on a lookout for a bride. Directed by Anand L. Rai, and produced by his wife Gauri Khan, the movie is set to hit theatres on December 21.

The 24th KIFF was inaugurated by Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, the Chief Minister and other stalwarts of Bengali Cinema earlier today.

This year, the festival will showcase iconic Bengali movies to commemorate 100 years of Bengali Cinema. [source_without_link]ANI[/source_without_link]
