Kidnapping mystery cracked

Kurnool, November 03: Police have cracked a kidnap case by nabbing one of the two offenders who abducted two persons claming themselves as Maoists for a ransom of Rs 25 lakh within a week. This was disclosed by Kurnool SP Srikanth who produced the kidnapper before the media at his chamber here today.

According to police, two people who came on a Pulser bike intercepted a Scorpio belonging to KMC constructions and kidnapped its project coordinator Pradeep Reddy and driver Prasad near Venkataramana colony here at 9:00 p.m on October 22.

They blindfolded the two and took them in the same vehicle to Aravakur village outskirts of Puderu mandal in Anantapur district. By calling up the company MD Gautham Reddy from Pradeep Reddy’s phone, they demanded Rs 1 crore.

In the bargain they struck a deal for Rs 25 lakh and the same was paid to the kidnappers near Indusind bank here at 3:30 p.m on October 23 to secure the release of the abducted.

Three days later, following a complaint by Pradeep Reddy, Kurnool Two Town police registered a case and started investigation under the supervision of district SP Srikanth.

In the investigation, they traced the accused–Dommara Ravi of Maddalapuram village in Anantapur district Chakali Venkataraman a o f Harifnag a r i n Kurnool.

Following the clues, they nabbed Ravi today and seized Rs 21 lakh, a revolver and the Pulser vehicle.

The SP disclosed that Ravi was arrested at Gutthikode on the outskirts of Kurnool City. “Investigation is on to nab the other accused for recovering remaining Rs 4 lakh,’’ he added.

ASP Ravindra Naik, CI Srinivas, SI Maheswar Reddy and others were present.
