Kidnapping-cum-rape rape accused acquitted

New Delhi, April 06: A Delhi court has acquitted a youth of the charge of kidnapping and raping a girl after finding that the alleged victim had eloped with him to marry him out of her own will.

Additional Sessions Judge Paramjit Singh acquitted north west Delhi resident Anil Kumar saying the prosecution has failed to prove the charges against him.

Anil was arrested on the basis of a criminal case lodged by the parents of the girl, an eleventh class student at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, at Mundka in north west Delhi, that their daughter had been abducted by the man on March 22, 2004.

As per the prosecution, the police had been able to recover the girl months later from Patiala in Punjab from where the boy too was arrested on a tip-off by girl’s aunt.
