The State Government on Tuesday suspended Superintendant of Police of Police Transport Organisation E Lakshminarayana for tarnishing the image of the Police Department
Lakshminarayana was held hostage by a head-constable KN Giri Prasad on September 12. Later, Prasad leveled allegations of large scale irregularities in the PTO. He was arrested by the City Police on Monday and sent to judicial remand for 14 days.
In a GO issued on Tuesday by the Home Department, Principal Secretary (FAC) Ajoyendra Pyal stated, “The Government after careful consideration of the available material and having due regard to the circumstance of the case, are satisfied that it is necessary to place E Lakshminarayana under suspension for involvement in the hostage issue on September 12 colluding along with Giriprasad, which tarnished the image of the police department.” The disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against the SP.
Lakshminarayana has also been asked not to leave the headquarters without obtaining the prior permission of the government.
