New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday submitted an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha on the Jawaharlal Nehru University stand-off and the suicide case of Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula.
“We have given adjournment motion, if the speaker gives permission, then we will discuss about it,” Kharge told ANI here.
“This is a matter of freedom of speech and expression. The people who have raised anti-national slogans, it is the duty of the police to find the person and punish. But this doesn’t mean that the whole of JNU is anti-national, or doesn’t think about the country. We will fight against it,” he added.
A discussion on higher education institutions, dealing with the suicide of Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula and the JNU sedition case, is expected to happen today, where the first showdown between the government and the opposition is expected to take place.(ANI)
