Khaja wanted to re-activate terror network : Police

Hyderabad, January 20: Mohammed Amjad alias Khaja, an alleged LeT operative and south India chief of terror group HuJI, had come to Hyderabad to activate a terror network, a senior police officer said today.

“It is understood that he (Khaja) was trying to activate terror network…,” Hyderabad City Police Commissioner B Prasada Rao told reporters here.

Asked if Khaja contacted any sleeper Cells in Hyderabad city, Rao said “further information on what more he (Khaja) was planning will be elicited after taking him into police custody.”

Reacting to another query if Khaja had any specific plans to trigger terror attack in Hyderabad on republic day, the city Police chief said Khaja was not forthcoming with so many details. “It is possible that he was trying to get in contact with his associates and police would investigate that angle.
