Khaja Bilal surrenders in communal riots’ case

Hyderabad: Former Majlis Corporator and Congress leader Khaja Bilal Ahmed on Tuesday surrendered before Nampally Metropolitan Magistrate in connection with the communal violence case. Non-bailable warrants of Special Investigation team (SIT) were pending against him. He surrendered himself and was remanded to 14-day judicial custody. Police shifted him to Chanchalguda jail. Presently 4 cases are against him in connection with communal riots in Madannapet occurred in 2007.

The former corporator was also arrested in connection with communal violence occurred in 2012 during the controversy of Bhagya Laxmi temple abutting historical Charminar.

Bilal who was earlier in MIM joined Congress in 2017.
