Chandigarh: After being sacked from the post of Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Friday said he would appeal to the party to review the decision.
While Khaira said that he was not disappointed with the party’s decision, he also appealed to the party’s rank and file to urge the party leadership to reverse the order.
“Party workers and leaders who are here with me right now, appeal to the party to review the decision,” Khaira said.
“I thank those who have supported me, and would like to tell them that this is the time to be strong,” he said.
On Thursday, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia twitted about Khaira’s removal without giving any reason.
Dirba MLA Harpal Singh Cheema has replaced Khaira in the party.
Khaira last week had put out a video message, in which he claimed about a ploy to create a rift between him and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Sisodia.
He not only accused the party’s co-president Balbir Singh of circulating false allegations, he also leveled charges against Singh of taking money from party workers.
Last month, Khaira landed in controversy for extending support to a referendum for creating Khalistan. (ANI)
