Thiruvananthapuram: Seventeen-year-old Kerala school student who was unfairly suspended for hugging a girl classmate, has scored 91.2 percent in the class 12th examination. The boy who belongs to Commerce stream, scored an 87 in English, 99 in Economics, 90 in Business Studies, 88 in Accountancy and 92 in Psychology.
The two teenagers were suspended for ‘a long hug in the school’ during an arts festival in 2017 and for posting ‘intimate pictures in their private Instagram accounts’. After MP Shashi Tharoor had intervened, the student was allowed to take the examination.
“Our son has been permitted to take his exams, since classes for class XIIth are over. We will still challenge the high court order in an appeal to expunge the extreme remarks against the teenagers in its judgement,” boy’s father told NDTV.
The teenage boy of St Thomas Central School in Mukkolakkal, Thiruvananthapuram, had approached Child Rights Commission, which had ordered the school to take back the students. However, the school challenged the order in high court and the court had said that the school had authority to take action on disciplinary issues.
